The forge behind the names
Dungeon Quill is a set of free fantasy name generators built for the people who actually run and write fantasy worlds: tabletop game masters, players, novelists and game developers. Instead of staring at a blank page when a new character, town or kingdom appears, you forge a batch of original names in a single click and pick the one that fits.
Every generator is tuned to its subject. Goblin names come out short, harsh and a little ridiculous; elven names flow; cities and kingdoms get grander, more imposing forms. That way the names feel right the moment you read them, and they are easy to say out loud at the table, which matters more than most generators admit.
Two modes keep it flexible. Instant mode is free and immediate, perfect for improvising mid-session. Arcane mode uses AI to go further: instead of just a word, it writes a short, table-ready hook for each result - a secret, a rumour, a local tension or a quirk you can drop straight into your story.
What sets Dungeon Quill apart is what happens after you find a name you love. Star it, and it goes into My Collection, where your saved names are organised by type and kept between visits. Copy a whole batch, or export your collection to plain text or markdown for Obsidian, Notion or your campaign notes. It is the difference between a throwaway tool and a place to slowly build an entire world.
